What they found was that the pot tricked a specific neuron called POMC into thinking the body was starving. What makes this particularly strange though, is that one of the main jobs of the POMC is reduce eating when the body is full. “We were surprised to find that the neurons we thought were responsible for shutting down eating, were suddenly being activated and promoting hunger, even when you are full. It fools the brain’s central feeding system,” said the lead author.

Both of the main cannabiniods in cannabis have the potential to leave you counting down the minutes to dinner.
